HOVIS – 91,150 sq ft ‘cross docking’ facility
This highly specified distribution facility was completed a month early and on budget, to the exacting standards required of Hovis, the leading UK bread and bakery snacks manufacturer. The facility has an eaves height of 9m, occupying a site of approximately 7.5 acres with car parking for 140 and incorporating 50 ‘dock levellers’. The tenant’s fit out works were undertaken in addition to delivery of the main development, providing Hovis with a turnkey facility with which they are “delighted”.
Operational just ten months after selecting Eurocentral as the location of its new Scottish base, David Slater, Group Property Manager of Premier Foods, had this to say of their purpose built facility:
“The company is very pleased with the outcome. “We have a demanding schedule to meet, so finishing the building on time is a great help to us.”
SHEFFIELD INSULATION GROUP – 71,900 sq ft distribution centre
The 71,900 sq ft distribution centre developed for Sheffield Insulations was built to a high standard incorporating four drive-in roller doors, 10m eaves, a large trade counter area and dedicated internal offices.
Walter Johnstone, divisional director at Sheffield Insulations, part of SIG plc the largest supplier of insulation and related products in Europe, said: "I am delighted with our new premises at Eurocentral which is the ideal location for our company. EPL’s Design Team worked with us to develop a new divisional office and distribution centre for Central Scotland of which we are very proud and that has increased the efficiency of our distribution process.”
CASE STUDY
Size of facility – 20,088 sq ft including over 2,000 sq ft of office accommodation
Doors - twelve ‘dock leveller’ access doors in a range of sizes to accommodate a variety of vehicles from double-decker articulated lorries to vans.
Work stated on site on 17th September 2007, following only two weeks from the completion of the legal agreement.
The building was completed within its 30 week programme and handed over on 14th April 2008 within the agreed cost budget.
Founded in 1876, Warburtons is the UK's largest independent baking business with 13 bakeries and 11 depots in locations across the UK. On opening the new facility Brett Warburton, Executive Director said: "The new 20,000 sq ft Eurocentral depot will allow us to add 40 new delivery routes to the 55 already serviced from our Bellshill plant and create a number of new jobs over the next few years.”
